The Academic Network on Global Education and Learning (ANGEL) and UNESCO will host academics, researchers, policymakers and practitioners at their 2023 conference, “Global Education & Learning for a Just, Peaceful and Sustainable World” in Paris, 19-20 June. The international event will include inspirational keynote presentations, academic papers and presentations from empirical research, debates on key issues and opportunities for meetings of specialist journal boards, early career researchers, NGO practitioners and policymakers.

“There is increased interest by learners of all ages in global and sustainability issues, as evidenced by the steady increase in the volume of publications in these fields,” says ANGEL project Chair Professor Douglas Bourn. “This international conference is a major opportunity to … identify themes that could influence policymakers and put global and sustainability themes at the heart of education programmes around the world.”

The ANGEL Conference 2023 is the fourth biennial conference of the EU-funded ANGEL project, which has more than 850 members in over 80 countries. ANGEL is founded by the Global Education Network Europe (GENE) and the University College of London’s Faculty of Education & Society (IOE) and is also supported by the UNESCO Chair in GCED in Higher Education at the University of Bologna.

Over 200 participants are expected from all over the world. Plenary sessions, which will be live-streamed, are bilingual English and French, with simultaneous interpretation. Breakout sessions as in English, unless other arrangements are made. The free conference will prioritise activities that promote and enrich connections between researchers, policymakers, and civil society organisations, especially those which capitalise on face-to-face meetings.

To receive notification of the launch of conference registration, please see “express interest” on the conference page. Free spots are expected to go fast. Read more here.
