The Joint Africa-EU Strategy Support Mechanism

This first workshop on GMES and Africa - Marine and Costal areas  is financed under the Joint Africa-EU Strategy Support Mechanism ( JAES SM) to facilitate  the implementation of its partnership 8 on Science, Information Society and Space. This programme is the concrete materialisation of the will of African and European Heads of State and Government at the Third Africa-EU Summit in November 2010 "to set up complementary support mechanism for specific needs/technical support". However, The JAES SM should not be seen as a "meeting facility", but rather as a mechanism to obtain concrete results through improving the functioning of the JAES institutional architecture." This will be achieved by also enhancing results-oriented coordination, coherence and visibility of the JAES Action Plan (AP) implementation.
