Thebrainstormingmeeting focused discussions on ideas and plans for long term climate action support. The objective was to gather ideas in order to identify concrete plans and main priorities of the regions based on the ACP Action Plan on Climate Change and other relevant orientation documents such as the Third RTM Outcome document, as starting points.
The meeting agreed:
- That the Third RTM Outcome document would be slightly revised to include comments given at this meeting;
- To strengthen the South-South cooperation and to learn from each other;
- To Assess the present status of play in the regions and SIDs and future activities against climate change;
- To continue supporting countries and regions to identify available sources of climate financing and how to access them;
- On the need for continued coordination of activities and resources within countries and regions to foster the inter and intra regional cooperation;
- That there was the need to integrate capacity building into the actions provided by the ACP Action Plan on Climate Change.
- That cooperation among partners after the UNFCCC Conference of Parties was needed on several issues, such as loss and damage, Blue Economy, IPCC, climate information services, mobilization of finance through the Green Climate Fund, Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs);
- That the ACP Action Plan on Climate Change needs to reflect the regional partners’ views; proposal was to include a section with high-level objectives and targets to guide the actions provided in the plan;
- On the issue of including several sectors to the ACP Action Plan on Climate Change, namely Renewable energy and access to energy, private sector involvement, Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR), loss and damage and its integration into NDCs.
