With over 100MW of plants now at advanced stages of development, companies are contracting for the logistics and services needed to ensure secure and profitable plant performance in Chile.

Solar developers need to design plants with comprehensive security systems due to the remote locations of plants. What’s more they are hard to physically monitor as they have large perimeters. Plants can be attractive to thieves due to presence of advanced systems, computers as well as the large amounts of steel and aluminium available from racking.  It is not just security monitoring that is needed but also performance monitoring. Globally, monitoring is increasingly important as plants enter the later stages of their lifetimes and it is crucial to maintain the performance ratios projected. Preventing operational failures or performance degradation can greatly reduce costs and reduce the expenses associated with fixing plants in rural locations, especially when there may be a lower level of knowledge and solar specialisation in country.

Security, monitoring and engineering companies such as Via:sys, Skytron energy and Bonfiglioli will all be participating in PV Insider LATAM, meaning that a company for every service required in a successful PV plant will be on hand to share the advice and tips for growing a successful business in Chile.

Over two days, leading global PV experts will be addressing the biggest challenges facing the PV community in Chile as they compete to design high-performance PV plants attractive for financing and PPAs. In particular, global experts such as SunEdison, First Solar, and Solar Pack will share the secrets of plant design, construction and component selection. Delegates will come away with the knowledge necessary to take advantage of the huge opportunity in Chile thanks to high DNI rates and a mining community hungry for more, cheaper energy.
