TED Coordinating EU Efforts for Jordan’s 2024 Parliamentary Elections

Team Europe Democracy (TED) is supporting the EU Delegation in Jordan to formulate concrete joint actions within a Team Europe format, focusing on political and civic participation, particularly in the areas of media and youth. This effort builds on TED’s first mission to Jordan in October 2023, during which the Secretariat conducted a mapping of EU and Member State interventions in these sectors. Through this mapping, the Secretariat facilitated discussions to identify and maximise all available resources, avoid overlaps, and build synergies.

With Parliamentary Elections scheduled for September 2024, and leveraging the insights from the report of the EU Election Observation Mission that will accompany the elections, TED will facilitate a workshop in November 2024. This workshop will bring together the EU Delegation and Member States to develop concrete activities that build upon existing priorities and portfolios. The workshop will also consider the sensitive regional context and explore ways in which democracy support can respond effectively and adaptively. An outcome of the workshop will be a common agreement on the priority joint efforts of the EU Delegation and EU Member States.
