Women and Leadership: Breaking Down the Glass Ceiling – Training Workshop in Dakar
News details
From 2 to 4 December 2025, the regional training workshop titled “Women and Leadership: Breaking Down the Glass Ceiling” took place in Dakar, Senegal, bringing together young women leaders from political parties, civil society, media and the entrepreneurial sector.
Organised by the Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom (FNF) in partnership with ENoP under the WYDE Political Parties Project, the workshop aimed to strengthen women’s leadership capacities and promote more inclusive political participation in Senegal.
Over three days, participants engaged in expert-led sessions, practical workshops and group discussions addressing key themes such as gender and human rights, governance and political participation, and women’s economic empowerment. The programme combined theoretical inputs with case studies and simulations, providing participants with concrete tools to better understand and overcome the barriers commonly referred to as the “glass ceiling”.
Beyond individual capacity-building, the workshop fostered dialogue and peer exchange, contributing to the creation of a dynamic network of women leaders committed to advancing gender equality and inclusive governance. The event also highlighted the importance of linking political leadership with economic empowerment and community-level impact.
This training workshop formed part of WYDE Political Parties’ broader efforts to support women’s political participation and leadership, while ensuring visibility through institutional branding, professional documentation, and post-event dissemination across partner communication channels.
