The editorial team are showcasing the capacity4dev.eu site at this year’s European Development Days and conducting interviews with some of the development experts who will be attending from across the world.

Organised by the European Commission and the Belgian Presidency of the European Union, the EU Dev Days are this year taking place in Brussels. The event, which opened on Monday, brings together development practitioners and policy makers for two days of questions and debate about development issues.
The EU Dev Days provides a unique opportunity for the face-to-face exchange of information and ideas and the sharing of development models already in place across the world. Similarly, capacity4dev.eu seeks to support such exchange online on a day-to-day basis.
This shared commitment to exchange and collaboration makes it especially important that capacity4dev.eu takes part in this annual event, according to capacity4dev.eu project manager, Christoforos Korakas.
“Enabling knowledge sharing among development practitioners - in particular among those working in the field - seems fundamental to achieving sustainable results," said Mr Korakas. “Through capacity4dev.eu we are offering the international community a free online collaboration space where development experts can share knowledge and expertise. ”

Some of the hot topics on this year’s Dev Days programme include debate and review of the Aid Effectiveness Agenda ahead of next year’s high-level forum in South Korea. Democracy, governance and human rights will be the focus of a number of prominent events over the two days. And the battle against fake pharmaceuticals is getting a high-profile boost with the participation fof world leaders from across the continents, including former French President Jacques Chirac and former President of West African regional block, ECOWAS.
