Change as many jobs as you can before you join the European Commission

What I would recommend for the young people that are crazy enough to deserve and to aspire to work in cooperation is to do as many jobs as possible, change as many places, as many stakeholders and as many bosses as possible.

- Nicola Bertolini, (former) Head of Cooperation, EU Delegation to Serbia

Always try to be proactive

Be really aware of what information you have and try to be proactive in sharing it. Don't wait for others to reach out to you as that information may not be relevant anymore.

- Irene Bonciani, Administrative & Inter-Institutional Assistant, Directorate-General for International Partnerships

Don't lose sight of the bigger picture

Do not underestimate the power of humour: it helps keep perspective and builds connection in particularly difficult times.

- Luc Bagur, Director, Sustainable Development Policy and Coordination, Directorate-General for International Partnerships

Always listen to what your colleagues have to say

Try to organise the work in a very smooth way for everybody. It's also very important to communicate with everybody, not only with your own teams, but also with other sections, in particular with the cooperation section.

- Daniela Ottavi, Head of Finance, Contracts and Audit, EU Delegation to Indonesia
