The EU Development Days brought together thousands of development practitioners and policy makers from across the world in Brussels, Belgium, for two days of debate and discussion on the hot topics in their industry. We asked some of them: Is development happening?

At a conference venue in the heart of Europe, where governments are still struggling to contain the fall out of the global financial crisis, commitment to development and the results it can produce remained strong, especially from the key note speakers.

“It’s very clear that our development cooperation could support developing countries’ growth, agenda and social inclusion agenda,” said Andris Piebalgs, the Commissioner for Development at the European Commission. “There is no reason to fail and no excuse for not doing so.”

To see if attendees of the event, which took place on the 6 and 7 of December, were equally upbeat we carried out our own non-scientific survey asking visitors: Is development happening?
