The Caribbean is a region where climate change has a huge impact. The countries, which are are small islands, are hit by big natural phenomena like hurricanes and earthquakes. It is crucial to address the impact of climate change in these countries.
In Kingston, we have the seventh largest natural harbour in the world, operated by a Jamaican company and a European one. Due to heavy rains, flood periodically hit the harbour and stop all activities [...] causing damages and losses for about 17 million US dollars (more than 14 million euro) per year. [...] Interventions are needed to address this issue and make the harbour more competitive.
This is a classic example where the Global Gateway can address climate change issues, the connectivity aspect, and [...] bring European companies to provide sustainable energy or manpower.
