I am Soil and Environmental Scientist and I work in sustainability issues of agriculture, food and bioenergy. I completed my PhD in 2017 in 'Agronomic Sciences and Biological Engineering' from University of Liege in Belgium. Currently, I am working as a senior researcher at Research institutes in Sweden (ri.se) in the field of sustainable 'Agriculture and Food'. My research interest involves environmental and economic sustainability under changing climate to preserve resources like healthy soil, clean air, water and wildlife for our future generations.

With 6+ years of experience, I'm a project and business analyst specializing in international development. My expertise spans grant writing & reporting, capacity development, UN inter-agency coordination, and policy & project development.

My Mission:
Connecting across borders to catalyse collaborative efforts that deliver scalable solutions for vulnerable populations in the dynamic field of migration. I champion inclusive approaches that ensure no one is left behind.

What I Do:
Develop results-oriented programs: I partner with stakeholders to design donor-aligned projects addressing critical needs and emerging trends.
Secure funding: I map solutions to funding opportunities, draft donor profiles, and help expand the IOM donor base.
Ensure project compliance: I review resource requirements, document programmatic needs, and align projects with the IOM Strategic Results Framework.
Support project teams: I draft proposals, assist with donor reports, and ensure adherence to IOM policies and procedures.
Facilitate knowledge sharing: I deliver training on program development, donor reporting, and the SRF.
Knowledge Management & Learning: I maintain accurate project files and reports within IOM systems.

Long-term (35+ year) experience in sustainable economic development, climate change, environment in different economic sectors as an institutional development, strategic planning, capacity development, and knowledge management and communication expert in programmes and projects in Asia, Africa and Caribbean. Working in multi-disciplinary teams and for international organisations (ADB, UNICEF, UNDP, FAO, UNESCO, AU-NEPAD, IFAD-BSF, UNESCO-IHE, DFID, EC-DG-DEVCO/DG-INTPA, ACP-CTA, CAREC Institute), government and research institutions, universities, NGOs, private sector and (inter)national networks in Asia, Africa, Caribbean and Pacific.
In last two decades advising government institutions, international organisations and civil society organizations and networks in Asia/Pacific and Africa on institutional development, strategic and business planning, capacity development, knowledge and information management, communication, partnerships, use of ICTs, and innovation in different socio-economic sectors.
I have worked with international networks, NGOs, community-based organizations and local communities in the broader context of sustainable development with a focus on poverty reduction, gender equality, sustainable livelihoods, life-long learning, health and education. Before 2000 specifically focused on research and management of fisheries in Africa, Asia and the Caribbean.

I am a Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL) Professional with over 20 years of experience in Cambodia and the Asia region. I specialise in designing and leading MEAL systems that are strategic, participatory, and purpose-driven — ensuring that evidence leads to learning, adaptation, and impact.

My work spans education, health, child protection, livelihoods, and justice sectors with local and international NGOs. I have led national and regional evaluations, built partner capacity in data systems, and developed learning frameworks that go beyond compliance - helping programs reflect, improve, and meet donor expectations.

I bring a calm, collaborative leadership style and deep experience working with governments, civil society, and cross-functional teams. I am passionate about data for decision-making, strengthening accountability, and promoting learning cultures that serve both people and purpose.

Johan van Geijn has a unique track record as a specialist in international corporate social responsibility (CSR) in the world of sports, particularly in football and international development cooperation. With more than 25 years of experience – heading the international programs at the Royal Netherlands Football Association (KNVB) since 1998 to build local capacity through football in developing countries and low-income countries. More than 20,000 young volunteer coaches have been able to improve themselves in their local environment through programs developed by Johan.
As founder of the WorldCoaches program, Johan has proven many times how sport can serve as a means for social development. Using football as a catalyst for social cohesion, for the position of girls and women in society, for awareness of communicable diseases, drugs and addictions or clean water.
With the international challenges surrounding migration and refugees, using football as an initiator for programs to tackle youth unemployment in these countries. A range of thematic social challenges where Johan has been able to let football contribute to the approach and often to the solution.
