A book and a video narrate the collective experience of peace education carried out by Helpcode in Gorongosa together with a group of 28 primary and secondary school teachers and the Monte Sole Peace School within the framework of the "Culture and Peace Hand in Hand" project, with the financial support of the European Union Delegation.

The volume includes a preface from Antonio Sánchez-Benedito Gaspar, European Union Ambassador to Mozambique, and is organized in 3 sections: the first one provides the context and theoretical background to the project; the second is a collective writing experience developed by the teachers involved in the project as “teacher-researchers” and “teacher-activists”; the third section presents in details the tools adopted during the implementation of the peace education activities in schools and at community level, involving students, parents, community members, local leaders and activists.

A collective account of the conflict that affected Gorongosa and how this has impacted on the lives of communities and, above all, of the peace education process conducted, this volume contributes to dialogue on how peace education can contribute to rebuilding and empowering communities after a conflict or a crisis by analysing and deconstructing local forms of conflicts in a non-violent and inclusive way.
