EU-Africa Chamber of Commerce: Five companies rewarded for best CSR projects in Sub-Saharan Africa

On Wednesday, 26th November 2014, the EU- Africa Chamber of Commerce (EUACC), with the support of the EU Commission and Afreximbank, rewarded best projects for the first edition of the “CSR in Africa Awards”(http://www.csr-in-africa.eu).

The EU-Africa Chamber of Commerce unveiled winners for the three main categories:

·The Sustainable Economy Award: winner is Mars Inc

·The Environment Award: winner is Woolworths

·The Social Impact Award: winner is Newmont Ghana

Winners for the two distinguished categories: 

·The “EUACC – Promising Project” Award: Cocopack

·The “EUACC – Be Inspired” Award: Kakuzi,

The gala ceremony also marked the official launch of the 2nd edition of the CSR in Africa Awards, at the eve of upcoming European Year for Development 2015. President and Executive Manager of the EU-Africa Chamber of Commerce, M. Ouattara presented the CSR in Africa Awards 2015 agenda and encouraged larger companies to assist and partner with smaller companies in Africa in their CSR efforts:

• • 16th February 2015: Submission of applications
  • 15th June 2015: Deadline for project submission
  • 15th September 2015: Shortlisted projects will be announced
  • December 2015: CSR in Africa Awards gala ceremony
