EU renewed its financial support to the Teacher Task Force
Discussion details
The European Commission has awarded a grant of 1.5 million euros to the International Task Force on Teachers for EFA. This financial support occurs with the signing of an agreement between the EC and UNESCO who hosts the Task Force secretariat.
This contribution came to the Task Force while the global community is engaged in the debate on the 2015 deadline for EFA goals as well as current thinking around the role of education and therefore of teachers in the post-2015 development agenda.
This financial envelope will enable the Task Force to continue its work of collection of research but also of sharing knowledge, experiences and best practices for improving teacher policies and practices. Opportunities will be more offered for its members and partners to discuss, advocate and collaborate internationally on teacher issues for enhancing a well informed and resourced teacher global agenda. Finally, the Task Force will continue to provide technical assistance to countries for the development of their national teacher policies.
To recall, since the establishment of the Task Force at the EFA high-level meeting in Oslo in 2008, the EC has been with Norway, France, Germany and Indonesia, the main donor which supported the implementation of the first phase of its action plan.
