European Union and Congo Forest Partnership 🇨🇬

The Forest Partnership is a long-term political commitment between the European Union 🇪🇺 and the Republic of Congo 🇨🇬, signed at COP 27 in November 2022, to protect, restore and ensure the sustainable use of Congo’s forests through a comprehensive, holistic and integrated approach, in support of inclusive national development. 

✅ The Partners also agreed on a Forest Partnership Roadmap with targets to be reached by 2030 to help sustain momentum and steer action towards the achievement of the objectives set in the MoU, as well as facilitate the mobilization of appropriate resources and attract the necessary investments: 

     🌳 Increase the area of protected, restored or sustainably managed forests: 
              Sustainably managed forests: 13 million ha 
              Protected & Conserved forests : 5 million ha  
              Planted forests : 1 million ha  
              Restored forests: 0.4 million ha 

     🌳 Increase the number of forest-related decent jobs 20,000 
     🌳 Maintain the annual rate of deforestation of natural forests: 0.1% ha/y deforestation  

Partenariat Forêt entre l’Union européenne et le Congo 🇨🇬 

Le Partenariat Forêt est un engagement politique à long terme entre l’Union européenne 🇪🇺 et la République du Congo 🇨🇬, signé lors de la COP 27 en novembre 2022, visant à protéger, restaurer et assurer l’utilisation durable des forêts du Congo à travers une approche globale, holistique et intégrée, en soutien au développement national inclusif. 

✅ Les partenaires ont également convenu d'une Feuille de route du partenariat forêt avec des objectifs à atteindre d'ici 2030 pour maintenir la dynamique et orienter l'action vers la réalisation des objectifs du protocole d'accord signé, ainsi que pour faciliter la mobilisation des ressources appropriées et attirer les investissements nécessaires : 

     🌳 Augmenter la superficie des forêts protégées, restaurées ou gérées durablement: 
              Forêts gérées durablement : 13 millions d'ha 
              Forêts protégées et conservées : 5 millions d'ha 
              Forêts plantées : 1 million d'ha 
              Forêts restaurées : 0,4 million d'ha 

     🌳 Augmenter le nombre d'emplois décents liés à la forêt 20 000 
     🌳 Maintenir le taux annuel de déforestation des forêts naturelles: 0,1 % ha/an de déforestation
