International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women

Violence against women and girls still takes place every day, whether at home, at work, at school, in the street, or online. As many as 1 in 3 women worldwide have experienced physical or sexual violence at some point in their lives.

Education is key to shift the culture of violence: tackling questions of gender violence in the classroom can forge healthier practices at an early age. The EU is actively engaged in addressing gender-based violence, amongst others through its education interventions, promoting the right of girls and boys to a safe learning environment, free from sexual and other kinds of violence.

On the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, we invite you to say no to violence and discrimination against women and girls! EU’s STEP - Skills and Technical Education Programme in Malawi is working to end all forms of violence in technical and vocational colleges and contribute to gender equality. We invite you to support their campaign against gender-based violence and share their inspiring videos:
