Regional Project to Support Migrant Children and Young Workers (PRAEJEM): Learning kits to promote literacy and livelihood.
Save the Children puts 1,319 young people into craft apprenticeship.
Save the Children and its partners have been carrying out actions since March 2015 in Burkina Faso, Côte d'Ivoire and Mali to improve the livelihoods of Migrant Workers and Children (MWC ) within the framework of the PRAEJEM project ( Support Migrant Children and Young Workers) .
The PRAEJEM project, financially supported by the European Union, aims to promote social cohesion and the strengthening of the livelihoods of children and young migrant workers through the establishment of national and international coordination mechanisms.
After two years of implementation, the general trend of the project highlights an important evolution thanks to the consolidation and finalization of activities initiated during the first years. Moreover, a significant effort in capacity building and advocacy to promote the sustainability of learning outcomes has been observed.
The current year focuses on literacy and livelihood enhancement of the MWCs. In July 2017, 1,319 young people (15-25 years) benefited from the apprenticeship of handicrafts. In order to support these young people, Save the Children offers learning kits in 12 trades. In Côte d'Ivoire and Burkina Faso, 970 young people have already received their kits, while in Mali, distribution is underway.
