Discussion details

Created 29 March 2012

As a first step towards greater harmonization of the monitoring & evaluation activities of different international donors, a group has been created as a simple storage facility to share monitoring reports on co-financed projects produced by the different donors.

More information on Multi Donor Monitoring can be found in the Capacity4dev group "Multi Donor Monitoring". This group compiles ROM reports produced for EC projects implemented by several international organisations such as Council of Europe, UNICEF, World BankUNHCR, UNDPand FAO.

It also contains the minutes of the 2nd Joint Monitoring seminar held on April 15th 2010 in Brussels.During this seminar, the European Commission proposed three concrete steps that donors can take towards better harmonisation through joint monitoring of common development projects:

  1.  To identify in each donor agency a focal point for project monitoring related issues. The idea would be to enhance communication and dialogue and foster a more interactive process between donors;
  2. To make monitoring reports accessible online with the aim of providing greater transparency and systematic sharing of results.
  3. To jointly analyse the results of the monitoring reports and to jointly decide on the follow up actions to take.

More information and a video interview on the subject are available in the C4dev article on Improving Donor Harmonisation Through Joint Monitoring.
