Opportunities to participate in the EYD2015 through CONCORD - lead Civil Society Alliance and sub-granting mechanism
Discussion details
Civil society organisations are key to achieving the citizen outreach objectives of the European Year for Development. The European NGO Confederation CONCORD is leading a network of European and national civil society organisations implementing EYD2015 actions.
In the following video interview CONCORD Director Seamus Jeffreson explains the goals of the CONCORD - lead Civil Society Alliance and the possibilities presented by the EYD2015 to civil society organisations.
Through a sub-granting mechanism, national or regional civil society coalitions and organisations can benefit from funding for organising EYD2015 activities that foster critical discussions on and engagement for global justice among Europeans.
The EYD2015 is "an opportunity to have a conversation about development and issues of global justice with a broader public, with people unaware of European development cooperation and not necessarily involved with the NGOs and institutions working on development," according to Seamus Jeffreson, director of the European NGO confederation CONCORD. To CONCORD, the European Year for Development is about promoting universality, solidarity, responsibility and engagement among EU citizens, as well as support for real change.
