Dear Colleagues,

As this is maybe the first time you will be attending a virtual classroom session it is important to learn your way around the use of this tool and its interface.

TEST YOUR ACCESS TO THE SESSION:

The procedure to connect to the virtual classroom session it very simple and it is explained in the "User Guide on how to connect to Blackboard Collaborate™" (attached) step by step.

Click on the session link: https://eu1.bbcollab.com/m.jnlp?sid=2014023&password=M.E6C8CC8F39997B4DFA16ED0F5F5E7B

The Technical Guide on how to use the communication tools in Blackboard Collaborate™ (attached) explains all the functions available.

If you have problems accessing the session

You may be blocked by your computer while trying to connect to the Blackbloard Collaborate session. Should that happen, please contact your local IT support for assistance and show them this email.

The most common issues are:

  • Java-related issues:   Java version 7 or higher should be installed on your computer or laptop. If the Java version is correct but the error persists, the build may have to be updated. The build reference suggested by the central IT services in Brussels ends in "b31" Additional information about Java and Blackboard can be found here: https://blackboard.secure.force.com/apex/publickbarticleview?id=kAB700000008P8m .
  • The program being blocked by a group policy. This happens when Windows prevents the installation of a Blackboard certificate. The error message is the following:

On the day of the webinar

We recommend that you connect at least ½ hour before the start of the session in order to settle any technical problems in due time.

To connect you will follow the procedure as described in the annexed User Guide. You will need a headset preferably with microphone (which is often integrated with the headset) to interact with the moderators and trainers. Please contact your local help desk if you need to order one.

Use the Talk-button (one person at the time) or the CHAT function to communicate with the trainer.

If you should experience any problem with connection or other issues, please send an e-mail to our colleague: Hector.Prado@ec.europa.eu

Thank you for your participation and enjoy the webinar!
