Discussion details

Created 10 October 2016

DG DEVCO , DG NEAR and FPI jointly organised the OPSYS Delegationsworkshop from10th to 12thOctober,  initiating the productive work with its pilot Delegations and key HQ stakeholders on the first track of concrete IT solutions and new ways of working in our external relations.

All the presentations are to be found on the dedicated event page.

Colleagues from the Delegations were coming from all levels (Head of Cooperations, Head of Sections Operational and Finance/ Contract Managers) and representing a variety of countries and respective challenges  (Afghanistan, Pakistan, Brazil, Malawi, Peru, Ethiopia, Ukraine, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Morocco, Georgia and Turkey)

They got a first taste of how the new operational system can facilitate and improve their work in the future and brainstormed on more opportunities for increasing impact and transparency across the whole chain of the operations cycle. This first contact with new opportunities has created a big momentum and motivation to move ahead with the new and make the necessary changes happen in order to contribute to a higher level of doing business at EU external relations in the 21st century.

7 Delegations have volunteered for the first pilot phase linked to OPSYS project 1 results management with two tracks:

1. Reviewing the quality of the logframes of their Project portfolio (11.2016 – 03.2017) and input into the OPSYS system

2. Working on a limited number of highly visible breakthrough projects : testing new/ better ways of working on selected projects or other operational outputs to test improved ways of working accross vertical (HQ-Delegations ) and horizontal lines (cross-sectoral) therefore creating evidence for the further system design and business solutions under OPSYS  (11.2016 – 08.2017)

The pilot Delegations will need full support not only from the OPSYS teal but also from the relevant units at Headquarters level to achieve their goals.

The 2020 video and the session will also be available here very soon. So keep posted!
