Discussion details

Created 26 April 2016

The 10th edition of the European Development Days (EDDs) is less than two months away. Organised by the European Commission,  the EDDs bring the development community together each year to share ideas and experiences, identify new partnerships and find innovative solutions to the world’s most pressing challenges.

This year’s  forum (15-16 June, at Tours & Taxis ) includes a brainstorming session on knowledge sharing through communities of practice, hosted by DG International Cooperation and Development, on June 16 from 14.45 – 16.00.

The session will bring together those interested in coming up with concrete ideas, innovative solutions and practical how-tos on how to build and grow communities of practice (CoP).

Large development organizations have embraced Communities of Practice (CoPs) to provide spaces for knowledge dissemination, exchange of ideas and even problem-solving. While CoPs can serve as bridges across organizations and beyond,  there is no “one size fits all” way to build and sustain CoPs. There is, however, much to learn from each other in terms of operational, strategic or technological issues in relation to CoPs.

The session is an opportunity for knowledge sharing experts in development and CoP leaders in particular to discuss approaches, activities and instruments to foster knowledge exchange via CoPs. We hope to see you there!

Please note that, because of security reasons, you need to register for the EDDs before May 15th to secure a place!
