Future water supply and sanitation services depend not only on investments in infrastructure and maintenance, but also on a skilled workforce that can professionally plan, operate, maintain and manage the utilities that provide those services to communities and cities.

The Global Water Operators’ Partnerships Alliance (GWOPA) of UN-Habitat and the European Commission’s Directorate-General for International Partnerships (INTPA) are organising an event in the context of the upcoming UN 2023 Water Conference (22-24 March) on young water and sanitation professionals’ essential role in shaping the future of the sector.

This event will provide a broad and visible platform for young water and sanitation professionals to raise awareness and advocate for the complex challenges and solutions of their profession, including the sector’s transition towards more sustainable and inclusive practices. Recognising the critical support they provide to society, young water and sanitation professionals will have the opportunity to share their own stories, including their daily struggles and successes working in the sector.
