Celebrating World Soil Day: Announcement of the World Soil Day Sessions | 庆祝世界土壤日：世界土壤日研讨会的预告

As announced by the UN-FAO, the World Soil Day (5th December) is today to celebrate "Soils: Where Food Begins". In the global crisis of climate change, food safety-security and social-economic uncertainty, healthy soils are essentially valuable as foundation of healthy food and a better environment. However, what are scientific measures of healthy soils in healthy food plantation, processing and sales? In reality, soil health information and data for food production are still lesser-known to many. 

At the occasion of WSD 2022, Natureherit DC and Knowledge @ Terra Classrooms shall host World Soil Day Sessions (WSD Sessions) to exchange soil health info-data in farming policy-practices with different cities and regions, co-organized by Institute of Agricultural Science and Technology Information(link is external), Shanghai Academy of Agricultural Sciences (SAAS)(link is external). The WSD Sessions shall invite speakers from various cities and institutions internationally, in particular from the EU, to share soil health issues, such as coastal eco farming management, climate resiliency of delta cities and soil pollution prevention of metropoltan regions. 

As an innovative action, among other goals, the organizers wish to contribute to more effective inter-regional exchanges on green transitions and development cooperation, and consoliate soil health solutions and info-data to datasets that are related to certain agricultural food and city/region.

The main session is planned on- and off-line simultaneously in the 2nd week of January 2023. 

正如联合国粮农组织所宣布的，今天是世界土壤日（12月5日），以庆祝“土壤：食物之源”。在气候变化、食品安全-保障和社会经济充满不确定的全球危机中，健康的土壤作为健康食品和更好环境的基础具有重要价值。然而，健康土壤对健康食品种植、加工和销售的科学依据是什么？事实上，许多人对土壤健康和粮食生产仍然缺乏了解。

在2022年世界土壤日来临之际，自然颖源与地域知识课堂平台将举办世界土壤日讨论会（WSD讨论会），与不同城市和地区交流农业政策实践中的土壤健康信息-数据。上海农业科学研究院（SAAS）的农业科技信息研究所为协办方。WSD讨论会将邀请包括欧盟在内的世界各地不同城市和机构的演讲者，分享滨海生态农业管理、三角洲城市的气候恢复能力和大都市地区的土壤污染防治等土壤健康的关键问题。

作为一项创新行动，组织者的目标之一是希望为更高效的跨地域的绿色转型交流和发展合作做出贡献，并将土壤健康的解决方案和信息数据整合到与特定农产品和城市地区相关的信息组合中。

主要会议计划于2023年1月第2周在线上和线下举行。

To generate interests from universities, schools and capacity building programs to develop courses over soil health and food, the participants may receive some Knowledge@Terra curricula.
