Cooperation Agreement on Migration between El Salvador and Colombia
Event details
Description
Thanks to the experiences presented last May during the “Exchange of experiences on labour migration management” internship, El Salvador and Colombia recently agreed on implementing a migration cooperation programme focused on the exchange of experiences regarding the attention to conational returnees.
On last 11 July, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of El Salvador, Engineer Hugo Martinez, received the Chancellor of the Republic of Colombia, Doctor María Ángela Holguín.
In this occasion, both countries showed interest in integrating in the bilateral cooperation agenda the structured exchange of experiences related to public policies for the return of conationals and their productive rehabilitation, specially the Colombian experience with the “Colombia Unites Us” (Colombia Nos Une) programme.
This agreement has been realised two months after the internship to which the Director for Salvadorian Overseas Organisation Strengthening, José Manuel Castillo Pérez-Gómez, participated and during which how Colombia manages its labour migration through the “Colombia Unites Us” programme was presented.
