EU-Africa Chamber of Commerce
Event details
Description
On Wednesday, 26th November 2014, the EU-Africa Chamber of Commerce (EUACC) will be hosting a gala ceremony to showcase the winning projects of our 1st edition of the “CSR in Africa” Awards.
The EU-Africa Chamber of Commerce is proud to count on the European Commission support for our “CSR in Africa” Awards as our main Institutional Partner, and is open to give more visibility to our nominees in preparation for the European Year for Development 2015.
The event will recognise and highlight the efforts of the 8 shortlisted companies in conducting, promoting and encouraging Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) throughout the African continent.
The EUACC truly believes that CSR is a key way to help ensure inclusiveness and sustainability in Sub-Saharan Africa’s development. It is not just the volume of economic activities that determines development. It is also how business is carried out which impacts people, the economy and the environment.
The EUACC first edition of its “CSR in Africa” Awards was launched in Brussels in November 2013 during the EU Commission’s European Development days.
These Awards aim to:
- Give a higher visibility to CSR best practices in Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA)
- Raise awareness
- Showcase CSR as a tool of performance and competitiveness
- Encourage shared-value approaches.
