European Security and Defence Forum (ESDF 2018)

As a leading think-tank in Greece and Europe aiming to foster knowledge and dialogue in European Union affairs and policies, the Institute of Research & Training on European Affairs (I.R.T.E.A.) organizes the European Security and Defence Forum 2018, “Debate on the Future of European Security & Defence: from Vision to Action”. The high-level conference is held from 11 to 12 May 2018 in Athens, Greece, under the auspices of the European Security and Defence College.

Given the fact that Europe is in a crossroads with its Security and Defence being challenged from migration crisis, BREXIT in its full extent and the terrorism on the rise, the ESDF is the beginning of a productive and high-level dialogue between distinguished academics, experts, training providers, practitioners and senior representatives of the national authorities and relevant EU Institutions and Agencies involved in the European Security and Defence field. The European Security and Defence Forum provides the context of coordination and cooperation of all security and defence stakeholders at a European level. The Forum offers the opportunity of an in-depth analysis on the CFSP/CSDP perspectives, the challenges ahead, the ongoing crises and emerging threats, with a light to the future of the policy and the role of European Union in a changing world.

The seven sessions planned during the two days of the conference will offer participants the possibility to benefit from the knowledge at the European level, exchange opinions, network and debate, building on the European security culture.

European Security and Defence Forum 2018 is open to individuals and relevant institutions or companies having a high interest in the debates and willing to share their experience and to contribute to the European Security and Defence dialogue.
