Food for planning: bring the food systems to the city
This event is created in collaboration with The Quito Participatory Urban Agriculture Project (AGRUPAR) in this year's FAO World Food Forum (WFF 2023).
The event highlights the critical role cities have in transitioning towards sustainable and resilient food systems, arguing on the importance to integrate food systems into urban planning. It builds on a Master Thesis for IHS (IHS, Institute for Housing and Urban Development Studies, Erasmus University Rotterdam) that explored the challenges of implementing agriculture and food policies in Quito, Ecuador, and the work of The Quito Participatory Urban Agriculture Project (AGRUPAR). The event aims to showcase Quito's experience and share insights from other cities 'experiences in integrating food systems into planning through an open discussion.
