GENDER Online Course 3: Gender Mainstreaming through the Project Approach

OBJECTIVE:

Provide practical tools to mainstream gender equality in each phase of the project cycle

TARGET AUDIENCE:

The course is primarily targeted at staff involved in the management of EU development co-operation, in the Commission (in particular Delegation staff), in EU Member States as well as in partner organisations.

A prerequisite is basic knowledge on key gender concepts, EU Commitments on gender equality, basic tools and strategies on gender and development. It is recommended to follow first the Gender Online Courses 1 and 2 before starting this course.

CONTENTS:

-        Review how gender issues can be addressed in each phase of the project cycle

-        Review of the gender dimension of all quality assessment criteria used by DEVCO

-        Practical exercises, such as applying gender specific quality criteria, and engendering the logical framework.

-        A number of tools are presented, among which practical checklists to include a gender perspective in (pre-)feasibility studies, in action fiches, and in ToRs.

DURATION:

Approximately 10 hours, including the readings, exercises and communication with tutors. This course will be launched during the following period:

18 June - 16 July 2012
