On 23 June 2023, Commissioner Urpilainen launched the Inequality Marker at the “Science and the fight against poverty: how far have we Come in 20 years and what's Next?” Collège de France Colloquium, organised by Esther Duflo.
The Inequality Marker (“I-Marker”) is a concrete and innovative tool used by the European Commission to support its overarching objective of “addressing inequalities by building inclusive and sustainable societies”. The I-Marker will enable the Commission to better understand, track and benchmark the impact of its actions across all sectors on inequalities, including Global Gateway priorities.
Why is the I-Marker important? How does it work? What are the first lessons learnt from its roll-out, including in the context of Global Gateway?

Together with AFD and CONCORD, we will explore these questions and more on Tuesday, May 28, between 11 am and 12.30 pm.
Before the conference, do not hesitate to check the Inequality Marker Guidelines, Inequality Marker Video and I-Marker one-pager.
