Description

How can a government weigh up the economic benefits of implementing policies to protect the environment, such as establishing a protected area? Or the costs of losing ecosystem services due by activities designed to promote economic development, such as granting mining or logging concessions, or extending livestock production?
This conference organised at the External Cooperation Infopoint on 17 June 2016 will present findings and examples from The Economics of Ecosystems and Biodiversity (TEEB) study (see website), and preliminary results from five ongoing TEEB country studies (Ecuador, Liberia, Tanzania, Bhutan and Philippines).
