Online side event “Governance of climate and technological risks in transboundary water bodies” within the Global Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction

We would like to invite you to online side event “Governance of climate and technological risks in transboundary water bodies” organized by the Water Convention and the Convention on the Transboundary Effects of Industrial Accidents  in partnership with the UNDRR Regional Office for Europe and Central Asia in the framework of  the seventh session of the Global Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction (GP2022), 23-28 May 2022, Bali, Indonesia. The Side Event aims to provide insights and improve understanding on how countries can integrate multi-hazards multi-risks approach into governance of transboundary basins to achieve disaster risk reduction and climate change adaptation.

Invited speakers representing Armenia, Ghana, International Commission for the Protection of the Danube River (ICPDR) and the Mekong River Commission (MRC) will share the examples of how countries are building inter-institutional cooperation to better govern multi-sector and multi-hazard risks, for instance, by implementing international legal instruments, notably the Water and Industrial Accidents Conventions, transboundary agreements and policy guidance such as European Forum for Disaster Risk Reduction Roadmap 2021-2030.

The side event will be organised on Friday, 27 May 2022, 9:00 – 10:30 CET or 15:00 – 16:30 hrs, Bali time zone (UTC/GMT +8 hours) with English-French-Russian simultaneous interpretation. The agenda and technical details will be shared with you in a few days before the event.
