“Private Sector for Development: Measuring Impact”
Thursday 13th December 2012
09:45 – 16:30, BUSINESSEUROPE, Av. De Cortenbergh 168, 1000 Brussels, Belgium
You are cordially invited to participate in an open event on "Private Sector for Development: Measuring Impact".
European international development policy-makers are increasingly focussed on the role of the private sector in development, as reflected both in political rhetoric and programme spending. Given this growing emphasis, the importance of clearly demonstrating development impact on the ground is more important than ever.
This workshop will bring together representatives from the private sector, donors, partner government representatives and civil society to discuss different approaches and methods to measuring development impact based around contributions from the Donor Committee for Enterprise Development, Traidcraft and private sector company representatives.
Sessions will focus on:
- Which Private Sector? What Impact?
- Measuring Poverty Impact: the monitoring and evaluation of EU and UK Aid for Trade and Private Sector Development
- Moving Beyond the Log-Frame: theories of change and the DCED Standard
- Partnering with Business and the Implications for Measuring Impact
By the end of the day we hope to have identified:
i) where there is a common agenda and interest for further dialogue across participants
ii) key aspects relating to measuring impact for further investigation and discussion
iii) potential paths for further engagement between different stakeholders to ensure an informed discussion on how to maximise development impacts through engaging with the private sector for development.
This event is open but requires registration by 6 December.
