Sustainable Cities
The EU Delegation to Aotearoa New Zealand in partnership with International Urban and Regional Cooperation (IURC)
Event details
Description
Cities have a pivotal role in the transition to a green and sustainable future. They are a key contributor to climate change while in a unique position to address the climate and sustainability challenges we face. The European Union (EU) is galvanising action through a range of initiatives including the Global Covenant of Mayors for Climate and Energy, the Urban Agenda, 100 climate neutral and smart cities by 2030 and the sharing of experience at city level via the International Urban and Regional Cooperation (IURC) project for sustainable urban development and innovation. In this first webinar, insights and concrete actions are shared city-to-city by three local authorities in Aotearoa New Zealand with their counterparts in Europe: Christchurch with Vitoria-Gasteiz and Málaga (both in Spain), Nelson/Wakatū with Lemvig (Denmark) and New Plymouth with Vilnius (Lithuania). Common challenges addressed are mobility, innovation, climate action and renewable energy. Follow the links to see and read more:
