![]() Aotearoa New Zealand is the first highly industrialised nation outside of the EU to become an associate to Horizon Europe, the EU’s flagship programme for research and innovation. Associate status allows New Zealand to participate in Horizon Europe calls and activities on equal terms with entities from the EU and creates opportunities to jointly develop and influence science and technology policy. Eligible applicants in Aotearoa New Zealand participate under Pillar II for collaborative research via six clusters addressing major global challenges such as climate change, energy and health, and the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Pillar ll has funding of €53.5 billion (approximately NZD$90 billion) for the 2021 to 2027 funding period. The Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE) provides additional domestic support. The second in the series, and delivered together with MBIE and EUAXESS, this high-level Policy Futures webinar/seminar, had Signe Ratso, the Deputy Director-General for DG Research and Innovation as a key speaker. It explored synergies between Horizon Europe and the New Zealand Government White Paper: Te Ara Paerangi – Future Pathways. Follow the links to see and read more:
