On 6th and 7th September in Rome, the "Remittances, financial education and the diaspora in development actions" workshop aimed at the Bolivian community in Rome was held.
This activity was organized within the framework of the Pilot Project designed by Bolivia on Remittances and Development, which is being executed through a public-private/civil society partnership between the Ministry of Foreign Relations of the Plurinational State of Bolivia, the Association of the Bolivian Community resident in Rome, Italy, and Banco Unión of Bolivia.
In the course of the workshop, there were theoretical sessions and practical exercises to strengthen the participants' knowledge of financial education and management, and to transmit concepts related to the formulation and implementation of productive micro-entrepreneurship and projects to the Bolivian diaspora in Rome.
This workshop included the participation of:
- Representative of the Bolivian Directorate-General of Consular Affairs,
- Representative of the financial sector: Banco Unión,
- Civil society/Diaspora: representatives of the Association of the Bolivian Community in Rome,
- Implementing partners: FIIAPP.
Methodology:
The workshop was designed using a participatory methodology that facilitated comprehension of the concepts through theoretical sessions and practical exercises.
Theoretical training sessions covering:
- Presentation of the conceptual framework of the link between remittances and development;
- Presentation on key concepts in financial education and the design and implementation of productive projects;
- Presentations of study cases.
Practical training sessions:
- Comprised of group exercises on the components of the theoretical sessions.
Workshop achievement:
Training of 20 members of the Association of the Bolivian Community in Rome and other associations in financial education and the formulation of productive projects.
