On 20th September, the workshop on Remittances, Financial literacy and Micro-enterprise aimed at the Brazilian migrants in London took place in London, United Kingdom.
This activity was organized within the framework of the Pilot Project designed by Brazil on Remittances and Development, which is being executed through a public-private/civil society partnership between the Secretariat of International Affairs of the State of Goiás, Ministry of Justice of Brazil, and ABRAS (Brazilian Association in the United Kingdom), and coordinated by FIIAPP.
The workshop included the participation of:
- Representative of the Ministry of Justice of Brazil,
- Representative of the Organização das Voluntárias de Goiás (OVG),
- Civil society/Diaspora: representatives of the Associação Brasileira no Reino Unido (ABRAS),
- Implementing partners: FIIAPP.
Methodology:
The workshop was designed using a participatory methodology that facilitated comprehension of the concepts through theoretical sessions and practical exercises with a view to strengthen knowledge of financial education and transmit concepts of micro-entrepreneurship.
Workshop achievement:
Training of 20 members of the Brazilian Migrant Association ABRAS in financial literacy and in formulation of projects andmicro-entrepreneurship with a view to maximise the use of remittances.
The different theoretical sessions and exercises, through an exchange between participants and speakers, made possible to highlight topics related to financial planning, innovation in business creation, the link between remittances and development policies, and the importance to realise projects in partnership between the private and public sectors and the diaspora.
