How can we build fairer, more inclusive, and participatory cities by truly centering the voices of young people?
This is the question behind the event βYoung People Leading Change? Cities in Dialogue for Inclusive Policies and Practicesββa space for dialogue co-organized by ACRA, the Municipality of Milan, and WeWorld, in collaboration with the Municipality of Bologna, the University of Bologna, Fondazione con il Sud, and under the patronage of the Municipality of Naples, within the framework of the European project Global Districts, funded by the European Union.
Global Districts targets young people aged 15 to 30 who are experiencing social and geographical marginalization, with the aim of promoting their active participation and leadership in addressing global challenges.
These are young women and men who are too often excluded from decision-making processes, yet they hold essential ideas, energy, and visions for imagining new cities.
The May 23 event is a platform for dialogue between public administrations, civil society, youth representatives, experts, social organizations, and policy makers to co-create concrete policy recommendations and inclusive practices for youth engagement.
Objectives of the meeting:
- Launch a co-creation process for more inclusive local youth policies
- Strengthen intergenerational, inter-institutional, and intercultural dialogue
- Promote Global Citizenship Education as a tool for participation
Who is it for?
- Representatives of public institutions, civil society, and policy makers
- Social workers and educators
Three participatory working groups will address key topics such as:
- Breaking social divisions: How to overcome center-periphery gaps through education and housing paths
- Participation and power: Physical and dialogic spaces, language, and the sharing and transfer of power (trust and motivation)
- Gender and intercultural intersectionality: Policies and tools
π― Be part of the conversation and help shape new visions of cities and citizenship.
