Description
The “Global Districts” project aims to promote a more inclusive society, focusing on the involvement of young people in situations of social and geographical marginalization, with particular attention to young women and girls, generally little involved in global challenges.
Through a series of activities, including trainings, awareness campaigns and the organization of activities within local communities, the project aims to strengthen the connection between the local and global dimensions by revealing how global challenges such as poverty, climate change, gender discrimination and many others act on our society. The ultimate goal is to demonstrate how local communities can best play their role to have a positive impact.
The project involves a broad spectrum of young people aged 15-30 with the aim of transforming them into agents of change, capable of contributing to the improvement of society and the environment.
Target
The youth world and its activation are the primary target, but their involvement implies that of the communities and subjects connected to them, it is for this reason that the project in its phases will also address: young community leaders, activists, youth groups, civil society organizations (CSOs), teachers, educators and public decision makers.
Goals
- Achieving a more just and inclusive society, through the diffusion of Global Citizenship Education in non-formal educational models present in the local and national communities involved;
- Promote youth activation on local and global challenges;
- Promoting the leadership of girls and young women in addressing global inequalities.
The project contributes to the achievement of the following reference SDGs : 4 – Quality education ; 5 – Gender equality ; 10 – Reduce inequalities ; 11 – Sustainable cities and communities ; 13 – Fight against climate change.
Activities
- Creation of training courses on Global Citizenship Education for young people, activists, educators and teachers, in order to create an environment conducive to the inclusion and activation of groups of marginalized young people . Through engagement, empowerment and co-creation activities (including a digital campaign), the young people involved will be able to become actors of change for the fight against inequalities at local and global level.
- Exchange meetings and co-design tables with local and national bodies and institutions in a process of comparison and advocacy for the dissemination and implementation of Global Citizenship Education within the non-formal educational paths of educational communities. A process that will culminate in moments of international exchange with European institutions .
- Creative activities, training courses and a digital campaign that will tell the stories of young activists, women and girls. The involvement of young women and girls , often excluded from participatory and democratic planning processes, aims to stimulate a more inclusive environment in which to challenge themselves and increase their civic engagement.
