Forest Partnerships
A total of seven Forest Partnerships have been signed with the EU.
Five Forest Partnerships have been signed between the European Union and partner countries (Republic of Congo, Guyana, Mongolia, Uganda, and Zambia) at COP27 in November 2022, to protect, restore and ensure the sustainable use of the world’s forests. They stress the challenges posed to forests by climate change, development needs, conservation objectives, but also the aspiration to enable forests to fulfil their economic, social and environmental role. A further Forest Partnership with Honduras was signed one year later at COP28 in November 2023, while the Forest Partnership with Gabon was signed inBrussels in November 2024.Forest Partnerships implementation Roadmaps are being developed in each of the signatory countries.
