National Policy Dialogue in Armenia on the Financing of Rural Water Supply and Sanitation

Armenia is a small (29,800 km2) landlocked country with 3,2 million inhabitants; about one third of the population lives in rural areas. Coverage of the population with centralized water services varies from 98% in urban areas to as little as 60% in some rural areas. Only 88% of the urban population have a sewer connection, and this drops to about 10% in rural areas.
