Gold mining: A local governance issue

This SIPRI Partner Film is part of SIPRI's research that focusses on issues involved in gold panning in Mali's border communities. It aims to understand the current dynamics of gold panning in border areas, to compare local gold panning management methods in four states: Mali, Côte d'Ivoire, Guinea and Senegal and to identify and analyse initiatives to support artisans, women and children in the gold panning sector.
