Guidance and good practice on CSO Development Effectiveness and Enabling Environment
Although commitments on the CSO enabling environment and CSO development effectiveness have existed for a decade, progress in their realization is slow. Insufficient awareness of the existence of these commitments and what they entail in practice are among the main raisons for this slow progress. The Guidance and good practice on CSO Development Effectiveness and Enabling Environment document has been developed against this background.
This Guidance can be used as tool to raise awareness and intends to help stakeholders understand the CSO-related commitments.
The Guidance aims to:
- Contribute to a broader understanding of the commitments on the CSO enabling environment and CSO development effectiveness
- Explain what the commitments entail
- Use good practice examples
- Include a variety of examples
The Guidance has been developed by the multi-stakeholder Task Team on CSO Development Effectiveness and Enabling Environment. It is relevant to policy-makers and practitioners interested in the effective engagement of CSOs in development broadly, and the CSO-related commitments in particular.
