From grassroots movements to umbrella organisations, from women and youth groups to tanks and advocacy organisations, from indigenous groups to private sector associations, from consumers associations to trade unions, civil society brings a rich tapestry of perspectives and contributions.
The 'EU Civil Society Roadmaps' have been paramount in implementing and adapting EU strategy towards civil society in neighbouring and partner countries, serving as compasses, while connecting the EU and civil society around shared goals. Through dialogue, collaboration, and partnership, the EU and civil society weave a fabric of democracy, human rights and social inclusion. The CS Roadmaps should also increasingly contribute to ensuring that the implementation of the Global Gateway is value-based and benefits local communities.
