Online Communications Capacity Building’ training organized by SHARE project
The European Union supported SHARE (Strengthening Health, Applying Research Evidence) Project led by Dr ATM Iqbal Anwar, Scientist and Project Director of HSPSD organized ‘Online Communications Capacity Building’ training in collaboration with University College London (UCL) during June 29 - 30, 2016. Mr. Richard Warren, Programme and Communications Manager, Institute for Global Health, UCL conducted the training at Chiller Building Conference room of icddr,b.
Government representatives from DGHS, IEDCR and BSMMU, technical experts and communications focal points of icddr,b participated in this training which focused on writing for the web, social media and insights for project website design in the first day. The second day of the training focused on brief working session to brainstorm about peoples own projects and to plan web and social media activities for them.
In welcome remarks, Dr. Shahed Hossain, Scientist, icddr,b portrayed dominant role of online platforms like social media, websites and web portals in disseminating knowledge of health issues, research findings, research evidences and health interventions to the public, researchers, policy makers and wider stakeholders. In brief speech, Ms. Catherine Spencer, Principal Communications Lead of icddr,b thanked SHARE project team for organizing the training and expected cross sharing of participants would help icddr,b and affiliate partners to raise the web-profile of research activities at desired level.
