Stories of Democratic Resilience

This handbook is a collection of stories showcasing the work of the European Association for Local Democracy (ALDA) in promoting democratic resilience across Ukraine, Sub-Saharan Africa, and Eastern European countries.

The stories highlight various initiatives, including collaborations under the WYDE Civic Engagement programme, which aims to empower young people and strengthen civic participation in Sub-Saharan Africa — for instance, through initiatives in Uganda.

These case studies illustrate best practices among diverse actors working on local democratic governance. Some of these practices were also shared and further explored through exchanges organised by the Working Group 2 on Civic and Political Participation (Local Democracy Rising LAB Series: Empowering Communities and Embedding Good Governance | Capacity4dev)
