
Jaap Koot is a medical doctor specialised in public health and health management with a postgraduate degree in International Health and Tropical Medicine (KNMG) and Master in Business Administration. He works in education and research in the university and in international health and development. He has experience in the Netherlands, in Central and Eastern Europe and in middle- and low-income countries all over the world.
His research concentrates on policy development to reduce inequities in health, for example in community health for prevention of non-communicable diseases. In education he focuses on global health care management and health promotion. He supports public health institutes in low-income countries in strengthening research for evidence-based policy making.
