An argentine delegation visits Europe to explore market access opportunities for bioinputs
News details
An argentine delegation made up of representatives from the Secretariat of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries (SAGyP), the National Service for Agri-Food Health and Quality (SENASA), and trade associations from the sector (CIAFA, CABIO and CASAFE) visited the European Union from 20 to 24 April to examine opportunities for access to the European bioinputs market. The mission took place within the framework of the assistance that AL-INVEST Verde provides to SAGyP, through technical support from CREA of Italy, to strengthen Argentina’s institutional and regulatory capacities in the commercialisation of bioinputs.
The agenda began in Rome with a meeting at the Italian Ministry of Agriculture (MASAF), where discussions focused on regulatory convergence, trade in biostimulants and sustainable agricultural innovation. Both sides expressed interest in deepening cooperation and facilitating trade exchange.
On 21 and 22 April, the delegation took part in MACFRUT 2026, one of Europe’s leading agricultural trade fairs, held in Rimini. As part of the event, the workshop “Opportunities for Sustainable Trade in Biofertilisers between Argentina and the EU” was held, bringing together public and private stakeholders to discuss sustainability standards, regulatory challenges and market opportunities. The event confirmed growing global interest in biofertilisers and Argentina’s potential as a supplier to Europe.
On 23 April, in Brussels, the delegation held meetings with European sector associations — ECOFI, CropLife Europe, EBIC, IBMA and the Biocontrol Coalition — to exchange experiences on registration processes, technical barriers and innovation trends. Finally, on 24 April, a meeting was held with representatives of DG INTPA, DG GROW, DG SANTE and DG ENV to analyse the regulatory frameworks applicable to bioinputs in the EU and Argentina.
This mission forms part of the second phase of the technical assistance implemented by AL-INVEST Verde together with CREA of Italy, aimed at strengthening Argentina’s regulatory framework, promoting sustainability standards and facilitating access for Argentine bioinputs to the European market.
