Overview

Description

The programme Green Economy in Belarus aims at:

1) Identifying and developing green economy mechanisms and providing institutional and legislative support to the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection of Belarus in this regard;

2) Extending international co-operation between Belarus and the EU, including sharing information on environmental data, and to intensify people to people contacts by transfer of EU knowledge, skills, experience and technologies to the personnel of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection of Belarus and its regional bodies;

3) Promoteing green economy decision making and production/consumption patterns through support and implementation of small green initiatives, pilot projects and visibility/public awareness projects.

The €12 million programme is implemented via three main operations:

  1. Technical Assistance to Support the Development of Green Economy in Belarus (ENPI/2014/350-889, €1,465,000, on-going till May 2017)
  2. Supporting the Transition to a Green Economy in the Republic of Belarus (ENPI/2014/334-951, €5,000,000, on-going till October 2017)
  3. Construction of a demonstration wind turbine (under preparation)
