Description
The project “EU Support to the Education and Labour Sectors of the Republic of Tajikistan” addresses systemic challenges in education and labor markets to foster institutional capacity and socio-economic development. Against a backdrop of high youth unemployment and skill mismatches, the program seeks to enhance the relevance and quality of competence-based education and vocational training, improve the labor market information system (LMIS) for better alignment of skills supply and demand, and strengthen governance through inclusive financing models and policy reforms.
Key components include:
- Supporting Tajikistan’s first participation in an international assessment of learning results (PISA) and introducing new assessment approaches.
- Developing and modernizing competency-based curricula and teacher training programs to align education with market needs.
- Establishing public-private partnerships (PPPs) to integrate industry expertise into vocational education.
- Upgrading the LMIS for evidence-based decision-making and policy formulation.
- Promoting equitable and inclusive education systems through digital innovations and capacity building.
Aligned with Tajikistan’s national strategies and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the project aims to build a resilient workforce while ensuring equitable access to quality education and employment opportunities.
